Women Going Forward: SuperWoman!

Do you do all the housework, cooking, cleaning and laundry but also work a full-time job?

Do you take care of the children, the bills, the house, and your husband?

Do you run the majority of the errands, go to the grocery store and act as a taxi service for everyone in your family.

Or do you spend as much time as you can at work?

Would you call yourself a workaholic?

Is work the only place you feel good about yourself?

There is a connection between the two, and that connection is lack of balance in your life; you are not giving yourself time to enjoy your life. If you don’t find balance you may burn out or worse, get sick.

Come on! It’s time to ask for some help or a break…

How can you make some changes today, so you will be much happier tomorrow?

Women Going Forward: One Friend

One good friend

One lifetime friend

Is it really all we need?

The one friend

Strong friendship that lasts

through distance

through troubles

through pain

through loneliness

through family

through other friends

through careers

as long as there’s a phone

as long as there is that life-line

separated by location

Creativity moves in

Friend dates to the movies

in different states

Phone time in coffee shops

in different cities

Still loneliness creeps in

Even with husbands and kids

Loneliness

Creeps in

Missing our friends

Missing the carefree life

Then the phone rings

The one friend

Always there

Always seems to know

Fills the heart

Listening and laughter

Fills the soul

Holding on to that phone

That voice so desperately needed

From One Friend

Women Going Forward: Pimp Poem

Our girls… and boys

Unknowing players in their game

Run a ways

Throw a ways

Abductions

Who will protect them?

Young, broken women and men

Fall prey to the suffering

They don’t know

They don’t know

He tells her how beautiful she is

He tells her he loves her

He tells her she is special

He tells her he will protect her

He tells her he is the only one she needs

Do you tell her how much you love her?

Do you tell her she’s special?

Do you protect her?

Then, he needs a favor

Just once

One little favor

Then everything will be prefect

They can fulfill their dreams together

Then they can be happy

She sells herself for him

But really, he is selling her

He makes her believe that she is so special

So amazing

So incredible

That she should get paid

Just for simply being so special

She starts to believe it

She might even be flattered

By how special he thinks she is

She has never felt so special

Of course she should be paid

She is special

So she sells herself

But really, he is selling her

He buys her clothes, food, shelter

Now it’s time

For her to pay him back

How?

Sell herself

But really, he is selling her

If all else fails

He’ll party with her

Show her a good time

Everyday

Every night

Until she’s addicted to drugs

Then he can sell her

And if that fails

The violence begins

Violence

Beatings

Black eyes

Bruises

Broken bones

Until she is controlled

Until she is sold

She will be held captive

Sold

Traded to other pimps

Held captive

Sold

Traded

It starts at our…

Malls

Parks

Movie theaters

Fast food restaurants

Sidewalks

Parking lots

Usually not kicking and screaming

But excited about her future

As a model or actress or star

She feels empowered

Acknowledged

Beautiful

Sexy

Grownup

She feels she will make her parents proud

or

Prove to her parents

How mature

Beautiful

Special

She is

Because her parents don’t realize it

But she is going to prove it to them

She will make them understand how valuable she is

This man is going to make her dreams come true

This man is her savior

This man is her pimp

The Dumpster: One Woman’s Search for Love is a Contemporary Romance Novel set in Miami, Florida about Nicole, a cute, chubby, twenty-something woman, who is looking for love in all the wrong places. Who would have guessed that a dumpster in the back alley below her bedroom window would hold the key to finding love?

With Jack away on business, Rebecca’s looking forward to four days alone to work on her new client’s PR campaign to help women take back their lives. But her past intrudes. Roy, the man who stalked and assaulted her years before, has been released from prison. Home alone in her big, beautiful house out in the country, Rebecca has to learn to take back her own life while facing her fears and regaining her strength. But will she be strong enough when she faces the ultimate test?

This story is about a young woman who hasn’t treated her body like the temple it is—she wasn’t careful with sex or her lifestyle choices—and feared she had contracted HIV. That fear causes her to avoid love, but she learns to love herself. Love will always conquer fear and Christy has much to fear. When she enters the lives of two men, they teach her everything she needs to know about love. But, while dealing with her past issues and trying to treat her body like the temple it is, she teaches them a thing or two in return.

Angie doesn’t want to be a victim anymore. Deep down what she hopes for most is to find a good man to love and to feel safe in this world, but her fears take her down the wrong path. After befriending other women down on their luck, they decide to get revenge on men who go to strip clubs.

Blue the Bird does not want to fly. Follow Blue’s journey of self-discovery. Blue the Bird is a lesson on self-esteem and independence. Great for small children, teenagers with a false sense of entitlement, and adults who need a boost.

Women Going Forward: Work Hard Study Hard

A couple of weeks ago I was in Rochester, Minnesota—a place I still call home. They say home is where your heart is, but I often feel that Rochester is where I found myself and discovered my passion—writing.

During my brief stay in Minnesota, I tried to spend time with my friends, family and everybody who could fit me in/I could fit in.

I missed seeing one special young lady, Sahra. She is a writer/journalist with hopes of one day becoming a Broadcast Journalist on TV.

I’m sorry I missed you, Sahra, and I hope to see you next time I’m in town.

So, to Sahra and all young girls with big goals—If you work hard and study hard, you can make your dreams come true.
